Committees

Under the TIC are 17 committees, three sub-committees and the Appeal Board , all ready to discharge different responsibilities of the TIC. Committee and Appeal Board members comprise more than 100 high-ranking people invited from member agents and other professions. The committees include:

Committee on Shopping-related Practices

Convenor: Dr Law Cheung Kwok (Member List)

to set up an effective and reasonable mechanism to handle cases in which registered shops have breached their pledges
to hear cases in which registered shops are suspected of breaching their pledges, and penalise those shops found to have breached their pledges
to handle other matters related to shopping

Compliance Committee

Convenor: Mr Alvin Wong (Member List)

to monitor the practice and conduct of members and to ensure their compliance with the TIC’s rules
to monitor the conduct of tour escorts and to ensure their compliance with the Code of Conduct for Outbound Tour Escorts
to take disciplinary action against members and tour escorts for non-compliance with the TIC’s rules and Code of Conduct for Outbound Tour Escorts respectively

Constitution/By-law Committee

Convenor: Ms Teresa Ko JP (Member List)

to study and make recommendations on the Memorandum and Articles of Association (M&A) of the TIC and its Association Members

Consumer Relations Committee

Convenor: Mr Li Kwok Ying MH, JP (Member List)

to assist in handling complaints lodged by consumers against travel agents

Election Committee

Convenor: Dr Kam Pok Man (Member List)

to handle complaints concerning the TIC's elections
to perform any other duties relating to the TIC's elections as laid down in the M&A and prescribed by the Board

Inbound Committee

Convenor: Mr Michael Wu (Member List)

to protect the interests of inbound travel agents
to liaise with government departments and other tourism organisations concerning inbound traffic and tour operation
to ensure quality service provided by inbound agents

Mainland China Inbound Tour Affairs Committee

Convenor: Mr Ronnie Ho JP (Member List)

to handle matters related to inbound tours from mainland China, and propose long-term strategies for the promotion of good practice for travel agents and tourist guides
to formulate measures to regulate the operation of inbound tours from mainland China

Mainland China Inbound Tour Compliance Committee

Convenor: Mr Johnny K K Leung (Member List)

to handle cases where both the travel agent and the tourist guide are involved in the same complaint about inbound tour service and both are suspected of violating rules of the TIC, and to decide whether disciplinary action should be taken against both the agent and the guide

Membership Committee

Convenor: Mr Warren Tong (Member List)

to make recommendations to the TIC Board on the membership requirements of the TIC and its Association Members
to consider and approve TIC membership applications
to suggest necessary actions to the TIC Board if members are found to have violated the membership requirements

Outbound Committee

Convenor: Mrs Gianna Hsu (Member List)

to make recommendations to the Board on all matters relating to the outbound travel industry

Planning and Development Committee

Convenor: Mr Ronnie Ho JP (Member List)

to collect and analyse information and data related to the travel agent's industry
to identify challenges, issues and opportunities based on the information and data collected
to formulate strategies and plans for the development of the industry and to make recommendations to the Board

Public Relations Committee

Convenor: Mr Yiu Si Wing (Member List)

to promote the image of the TIC through public relations activities, and to help build links with travel bodies in various places
to improve members' understanding of the structure and functions of the TIC
to provide an additional channel for members and the TIC to communicate with each other, and to identify areas of members' concern for further action

Publication Committee

Convenor: Mr C K Kai MH (Member List)

to oversee the publication of the TIC's quarterly magazine The Voice of TIC , which helps improve communication with members and provide up-to-date industry information

Staff and Finance Committee

Convenor: Mr Ronnie Ho JP (Member List)

to prepare and review budgets, and to monitor the accounts
to formulate human resources policy of the TIC Executive Office

Ticketing Committee

Convenor: Mr Tommy Tam (Member List)

to handle all matters in relation to the operation of ticketing agents
to liaise and negotiate with airlines, various government departments and other related organisations for matters relating to ticketing operation

Tourist Guide and Tour Escort Deliberation Committee

Convenor: Mr Antonio Chu (Member List)

to consider Tourist Guide Pass and Tour Escort Pass applications that require special deliberation
to handle complaints concerning Tourist Guide Pass and Tour Escort Pass applications rejected by the Executive Office
to deliberate cases of suspected violation by Tourist Guide Pass holders and to decide if disciplinary action is necessary

Training Committee

to handle all matters relating to industry training and to liaise with the various government training boards, training institutes, airlines and trade bodies regarding provision of general and special training for travel agency employees

Working Group on e-Levy

Convenor: Mr Ronnie Ho JP (Member List)

to select a suitable consultant to conduct a feasibility study on the e-levy proposals
to oversee the conduct of the feasibility study
to make recommendations to the TIC Board on the e-levy proposals and e-levy in general

Working Group on Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance for Travel Agents

Convenor: Mr Ronnie Ho JP (Member List)

to study all matters relating to professional indemnity and public liability insurance for travel agents

Working Group on TIC Elections

Convenor: Mr Warren Tong (Member List)

to study matters concerning TIC elections and make recommendations to the Board
