Committees

Under the TIC are 16 committees, three sub-committees and the Appeal Board , all ready to discharge different responsibilities of the TIC. Committee and Appeal Board members comprise more than 100 high-ranking people invited from member agents and other professions. The committees include:

Committee on Shopping-related Practices
Convenor: Dr Law Cheung Kwok
  • to set up an effective and reasonable mechanism to handle cases in which registered shops have breached their pledges
  • to hear cases in which registered shops are suspected of breaching their pledges, and penalise those shops found to have breached their pledges
  • to handle other matters related to shopping
  • download procedures for handling registered shops suspected of breaching pledges

  • to study and make recommendations on the Memorandum and Articles of Association (M&A) of the TIC and its Association Members

  • to handle complaints concerning the TIC's elections
  • to perform any other duties relating to the TIC's elections as laid down in the M&A and prescribed by the Board

  • to protect the interests of inbound travel agents
  • to liaise with government departments and other tourism organisations concerning inbound traffic and tour operation
  • to ensure quality service provided by inbound agents

Mainland China Inbound Tour Affairs Committee
Convenor: Mr Ronnie Ho JP
  • to handle matters related to inbound tours from mainland China, and propose long-term strategies for the promotion of good practice for travel agents and tourist guides
  • to formulate measures to regulate the operation of inbound tours from mainland China

  • to make recommendations to the TIC Board on the membership requirements of the TIC and its Association Members
  • to consider and approve TIC membership applications
  • to suggest necessary actions to the TIC Board if members are found to have violated the membership requirements

  • to make recommendations to the Board on all matters relating to the outbound travel industry

Public Relations Committee

  • to promote the image of the TIC through public relations activities, and to help build links with travel bodies in various places
  • to improve members' understanding of the structure and functions of the TIC
  • to provide an additional channel for members and the TIC to communicate with each other, and to identify areas of members' concern for further action

  • to oversee the publication of the TIC's quarterly magazine The Voice of TIC , which helps improve communication with members and provide up-to-date industry information

  • to formulate human resources policy of the TIC Executive Office

  • to select a suitable consultant to conduct a feasibility study on the e-levy proposals.
  • to oversee the conduct of the feasibility study.

  • to study all matters relating to professional indemnity and public liability insurance for travel agents
