Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts

  1. I want to take the Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts. Are there any age or education requirements?

    To enrol on the Certificate Course , you must be 17 years old or above, and a holder of the Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, or a holder of the Hong Kong Identity Card who is not subject to any condition of stay.

  2. What is the attendance requirement for the Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts?

    The attendance requirement is 100%. Students whose attendance for any part of the Course is below 100% have to retake that part in order to be qualified to sit the Certificate Examination.   3. How can I enrol on the Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts? And how are the places allocated?

    The Certificate Course is open to the public for application three times a year, and the course information and the enrolment form are available three months before classes begin. Enrolment forms should be submitted to the TIC before the deadline. Places are allocated according to the order of preference indicated by the applicants. If a class is over-subscribed, the places will be randomly allocated by computer. The TIC will post the application results in the Latest News section and notify successful applicants (not including those on the waiting list) in writing for registration.

  4. If I am given a place on the Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts but unable to attend the class as assigned, what should I do?

    If you are unable to attend the class as assigned, you will have to give up your place, which will be filled by applicants on the waiting list, in numerical order. In that case, if you still want to take the Course, you will have to apply again when it is open to application.

  5. I find out after registration that I will not be able to attend the Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts. Can I switch to another class?

    To be fair to those who are on the waiting list, successful applicants are not allowed to switch to another class regardless of whether they have registered or not.

  6. Can I be exempted from the First Aid Talk of Part III of the Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts if I already have a recognised first aid certificate? If yes, can I be refunded the course fee for the First Aid Talk?

    If you want to be exempted, you have to submit a copy of your certificate when you register for the Course. The course fee for the First Aid Talk, however, will not be refunded.

  7. Will I be qualified as a first aider after attending the First Aid Talk?

    The two-hour First Aid Talk aims at teaching students some basic first aid knowledge and skills in order for them to cope with emergencies. Attending the Talk will not make the students qualified first aiders and they will not be issued with any first aid certificate by the Hong Kong Red Cross.

  8. Having been brought up in a foreign country, I can read Chinese, but cannot write it very well. Can I take the Certificate Examination for Outbound Tour Escorts in English? Are there any extra fees?

    Since the questions of the Certificate Examination are in Chinese, candidates should, in principle, give their answers in Chinese as well. If you want to take the Certificate Examination in English, you have to apply for it in writing before the examination. There will not be any extra fees.

  9. Will the Certificate Course for Outbound Tour Escorts be conducted in English?

    At present, the Certificate Course is conducted in Cantonese and its training manual is written in Chinese. Since the demand for courses conducted in English is extremely small, it is most unlikely that there would be any such course in the near future.
