Cultural and Heritage Sites Local Tour Incentive Scheme

Application Period: 20 October 2022 to 31 January 2024

The Government announced on 20 October 2022 the launch of a three-year Cultural and Heritage Sites Local Tour Incentive Scheme (“Scheme”) to incentivise the travel trade to develop more tourism products and itineraries with cultural and heritage elements. The Scheme seeks to attract tourists and the public to visit places in Hong Kong with cultural and heritage tourism elements and encourage the travel trade to develop attractive itineraries and products, so as to enable tourists and the public to understand more about local culture and heritage, conservation, revitalisation, etc. and promote tourism products with characteristics and diversity.

Under the first phase of the Scheme, eligible travel agents can receive cash incentives in respect of each cultural and heritage sites local tour participant they serve during the period between 20 October 2022 and 31 December 2023. There are basic and advanced versions of cash incentives:

*The Government announced on 5 October 2023 that eligible licensed travel agents will be provided with an additional 100 Advanced Level Quotas on the condition that all quotas for the Basic and Advanced Level local tours (involving a total incentive amount of HK$280,000) have been used before the first phase of the Scheme ends. Eligible cultural and heritage sites local tour must complete the pre-registration of the tour itinerary through an E-registration form prior to tour departure, and its application for the Scheme must be submitted online no later than 31 January 2024. Incomplete pre-registration of tour itinerary and/or late applications will not be accepted by TIC.
