Licensing Examination
The Travel Industry Authority (TIA) has appointed the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) as the examination body for the ‘Licensing Examination of Tour Escorts’ and ‘Licensing Examination of Tourist Guides’. The servicing period will be effective from now to 31st August 2023.

Remarks: Before registering for the licensing examination, candidates must have completed a pre-examination training course for tour escort or tourist guide specified by the TIA. Please visit the TIA’s official website for the courses’ details.

Tourist Guides Road Examination Practical Workshop
Contents: An in-depth explanation of the 25 routes road examination on Hong Kong Island, from which students can learn examination skills and improve their performance during the examination. Students may also gain a deep understanding of the assessment criteria, so as to increase their confidence when taking the examination.

Funding Schemes
- The Development Fund for the Travel Industry (for eligible travel agents)
The Development Fund for the Travel Industry is established and financed by the Airport Authority Hong Kong. It is aimed at enhancing the overall competitiveness of the local travel industry through subsidising “Training Activities” beneficial to travel agents.

- Training Subsidy Scheme for Practitioners of the Travel Trade (for individuals)
The Travel Industry Authority has launched a training subsidy scheme for practitioners of the travel industry with a view to enhancing the professional standards and service quality of the industry. Under the scheme, each eligible person may be granted, on a reimbursement basis, a subsidy of up to $2,000 for the following: registration fees for licensing examination of tourist guides and tour escorts, course fees for activities under the continuing professional development schemes, and course fees for obtaining a certificate of competency in first-aid or another similar certificate. To receive the subsidy, applicants must fulfil specific conditions.

The Appeal System
The appeal system has been in place since 2007. Candidates who are dissatisfied with their examination results may request for an appeal.
