Yau Ma Tei Police Station: A Cinematic Journey “Police Stations” in the World of Cinema – Infinite Imagination and Transformation

2026-10-21

The Old Yau Ma Tei Police Station is one of the major projects initiated by the Government's Working Group on Developing Tourist Hotspots. CCIDA collaborated with Hong Kong film professionals to reimagine part of the police station to launch Yau Ma Tei Police Station: A Cinematic Journey as Hong Kong’s second tourist hotspot themed around local cinema.

With the support of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC) has worked with the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) to open designated visiting sessions for tour group bookings, allowing the tourism industry to arrange itineraries with greater flexibility. By connecting neighboring attractions across Yau Ma Tei and West Kowloon, travel agents can seamlessly design immersive itineraries, delivering captivating cultural tourism experiences for inbound tour groups, local schools, and NGOs.

Built in 1922, the Old Yau Ma Tei Police Station is one of the few surviving pre-war police stations and the oldest one in Kowloon. The Grade II historic building, showcasing its unique Edwardian architecture, features four parts that allow visitors to immerse into a film set:

Retro Cinema Entrance:

Step through a nostalgic entrance tailored to transport visitors into the world of police and crime films.

Time Tunnel:
Relive iconic moments and characters from classic Hong Kong police and crime films through an immersive experience.

CID Office:

Explore the CID Office reimagined by film art designers to retrace the footsteps and clues of classic Hong Kong police and crime films.

Detention Cells:

Take photos at the interactive photo booth in the former detention cells, which feature police uniforms, prison uniforms, and film posters.

Booking for the visit sessions from November to December 2026 is now open and will close on 30 October 2026.
