Package tours bound for Bangkok

2010-03-29

Sixteen major travel agents providing outbound travel services concerning Thailand met today (29 March). Putting a high premium on the interests of travellers and making every effort to work out the best arrangements for them, the travel agents finally reached the following consensus:

(1) Package tours which depart for Bangkok during 1-5 April

The travel agents will ask on 30 March all travellers who have signed up for package tours which depart for Bangkok during 1-5 April, whether they intend to depart as scheduled.

If the travellers decide to depart as scheduled, the travel agents will make appropriate arrangements.

Since the operating costs during Easter holidays are higher than ordinary days, if the travellers decide not to depart as scheduled, they will be refunded the money paid (excluding visa charges) after the deduction of a fee not more than HK$800, and they cannot retain the tour fares paid.

(2) Package tours which depart for Bangkok on or after 6 April

  For those travellers who have signed up for package tours which depart for Bangkok on or after 6 April, if they decide not to depart as scheduled, they may choose either:

  (a) to be refunded all the money paid (which includes tour fares, Airport Passenger Departure Tax, etc but excludes visa charges) after the deduction of a service fee not more than HK$150;
  OR
  (b) to retain all the tour fares paid for six months without needing to pay any service fee.

The travellers are requested to notify the travel agents of their decision by 6 pm on 30 March so that the travel agents can make the best possible arrangements without delay.
